Consumed by JR Ward
This is a book that started out very strong for me. I loved the prequel novellas and the beginning of the book was so compelling with the story. And then about halfway through it’s almost like it fell apart. Consumed is about firefighters Anne and Danny. Both of them feel an intense attraction to each other, but working on the same team nothing can come of it.
Like I said I felt the first half of the book was very good and I liked the characters and the story. The second half of the book I found boring and a tad bit ridiculous. I think this series has a lot of potential and the future installments will be really great so I’ll definitely be checking those out. Three stars because I enjoyed this book for the most part.

The King by JR Ward
So, I’ve always been a bit behind on the BDB fan train. I had read up to Blay and Qhuinn’s book but for some reason stopped there. Once I found out Rhage and Mary had gotten another book I decided I needed to catch up so I could read about them ASAP!
I really enjoyed The King, more than I thought I would. Despite being the first couple of the series, Wrath and Beth have never been my favorite. Not that there’s anything wrong with them, I just felt the first book wasn’t as well developed as the rest of the series, so I’m really glad we got another book detailing their relationship and where they are at since the events of the first book.
The root of this story is Beth wants to become pregnant and Wrath doesn’t want her to for safety reasons. Hence, angst and tension. We also got great back story on Trez and iAm in this book. Bonus, some more of Layla too. But to be completely honest, I didn’t really care about the flashbacks or Assail (don’t come at me with pitchforks y’all).
Anyways, I’m glad I read this book and onward to the rest of the series!!! One more book until more Mary and Rhage!!!
