Hothouse Flower (Calloway Sisters #2; Addicted #2.2) by Krista and Becca Ritchie
5 Fucking Fantastic stars!!!!
“You are your own anchor. Do you want to keep burning or are you going to let yourself rise?
I loved this book! My favorite in the series so far.
Hothouse Flower is the story of Daisy and Ryke, sister of Lily and half-brother of Lo from the first two books. Ryke and Daisy have had an undeniable chemistry for years, but Ryke has held off because of the age difference and because Daisy, despite being mature, was a minor. This installment takes place six months after Daisy turns eighteen, and a trip to Paris will change their friendship.
“He is more than just my pillow. My wolf. My bodyguard. He’s my everything.”
“She’s the sun. I’m the dark. If she’s gone, I can kiss that fucking light away. Without her, I know I’ll never see it again.”
For me, the writing flowed so much more in this book than the others. Normally I would get pissed at the transitions despite loving the story/characters, but this book was truly a smooth ride. Except for well, the steamy scenes (insert little school girl giggling here). And this book was steamy.
“I’ve hit the lottery-to have him in my life. To me, he’s worth every loud moment, every peaceful silence, the crazy and the sad, the restless and the quiet. I would trade it all to be with him.”
I loved how Daisy and Ryke faced complications to their relationship head on, once they had decided to be together, they stuck by it. No giving up, breaking up, or running away. Both are strong brave people who helped each other face their demons. As a couple, they were perfect.
“I love you Dais, because you’re the wildest fucking girl with the biggest fucking heart. And without you in my life I’d be the unhappiest fucking guy.”
Additionally, I loved the development of the bro threesome between Ryke, Lo and Connor. The beginning of this book I wanted to throw my kindle at Connor’s face! I couldn’t remember him being so annoying in the other books. But he redeemed himself for me in this one with his support of Ryke and his decisions, proving he was a great guy to have as a friend. I also loved seeing the other side of the brother relationship between Lo and Ryke, and seeing how much Ryke loved Lo and would do anything for him. His motives were always so unclear in the other books, so seeing things from his perspective changed my view of him as a brother figure to Lo.
“You’re a hothouse flower. You can’t grow under natural conditions. You need adventure. And security and love in order to stay alive.”
I WANT MORE RYKE AND DAISY BOOKS PLEASE!!!! PS: If you are sensitive to curse words, this book isn’t for you. The F-bomb is dropped like 50 fucking million times.
